This year, each district has its own theme and is running at its own time and location. You as registered members of the BSA may attend whatever day Camp fits best into your summer schedule. Please note the registration deadlines and contact the Day Camp Directors directly if you have any questions about the specific programs. For all Day Camps, each participant (Youth & Adult), is required to have submitted Parts A & B of the 2011 health form. The 2011 Health Form is online at
www.quivira.org under the camping tab. It can be downloaded, filled out and printed for the ease of our Scouting families. Parts A & B are required for all Day Camp participants. These do not require a doctor visit and each parent can fill it out for their own child.

What is Cub Scout Day Camp? A Cub Scout Day Camp is an adventure filled program that happens at several local locations throughout the Quivira Council. Volunteer Camp Directors and staff plan a program packed full of fun and excitement. Day camps are designed to meet the needs and interest of Cub Scouts by providing great age appropriate activities and daily programs.
Who can attend Cub Scout Day Camp? Cub Scouts… Any boy entering grades 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in the fall of the year they are attending are eligible to attend day camp. Participating youth must be registered with the Boy Scouts.
Who runs the Cub Scout Day Camp? Each camp provides local volunteer staff that runs the daily events. Scouts are generally organized into dens by grade, with the den leader being an adult from your own pack, or even interested parents. The staff is approved by the council camping committee and trained by the Boy Scouts of America.
Should I attend Day Camp if I went to Resident Camp? YES! Cub Scouts are encouraged to participate in both day and resident camping programs. Day Camps begin before resident camp and offer a different program look and routine; the events, crafts, and programs differ from camp to camp. It is hard to find a better way to spend two weeks in a Cub Scout's summer than at day and resident camps. No youth should miss Camp due to financial difficulty. Camperships are available for those Scouts in need of financial assistance. Contact the Scout Service Center for more information 491-2220.
What do we eat? Lunch! - Each day, campers provide their own lunch. In most camp locations refrigeration is not available so we recommend that you pack lunch items that are non-perishable.
Do I have to Pre-register? Yes! Those scouts that are pre-registered (called the Early Bird deadline) will receive the discounted rate. Also, to ensure availability of T-shirts and patches, pre-registration is required. Campers that are registered by that camp’s deadline will receive a T-shirt and cup on opening day and a patch by camp’s end. As shirts and Patches are ordered ahead of time, those scouts “walking in” may not receive a T-shirt and patch. Note that adults with White Buffalo’s Day Camp will need to pre-order their shirts for an additional $10.
Do I wear my Cub Scout Uniform? No, the Day Camp uniform will be a T-shirt provided by the camp on or before the first day. Sneakers, shorts and a poncho may be appropriate depending on weather conditions. Other items to bring would be sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, bug spray, towel, extra pair of socks, etc…
What is the Day Camp Program? The day camp program includes various activities such as crafts, archery, bb-gun, sports, nature, outdoor skills, ceremonies, games, and other special presentations. Some camps even involve swimming and fishing. The specific program can be discussed with your Day Camp Program director by contacting them using the information on the next page.
How do I find more information about the Day Camp that I am attending? On the next page you will find a list of the Day Camp opportunities you and your son can take part in. Each one of the Day Camps listed has a separate flier that describes its program in more detail. If you should need more information contact the Day Camp Director or their Staff Advisor.
